TCRC – AKC Licensed Events

During TCRC Retriever Event Season, during the Fall & Winter, Treasure Coast hosts multiple AKC retriever events. All events currently take place at Dempsey Ranch, located near Okeechobee, Florida.

In early December, we host our Fall AKC Owner-Handler Qualifying Field Trial and AKC Hunt Test.

In early January, TCRC hosts our AKC Derby/Qual Field Trial as well as our winter AKC Hunt Test. Later in January, we host the Spring AKC Hunt Test. Dates for 2023/2024 can be found below.

Club Training Days

In addition to our retrieving events, TCRC schedules monthly retriever training sessions at various locations September through May.

At these training sessions members work together on training issues and simulate hunt tests.

The set-ups are adapted to meet the needs of any level of dog and handler. The same type of equipment and birds are used in training days as is used in Tests, in order to simulate the experience of a hunt test. Training advice is always available.

 What Drives Us?

Our Mission

Treasure Coast Retriever Club (AKC) is dedicated to improving the retrieving breed, helping owners with the training and testing of retrievers and participating in the fellowship, cooperation and learning that can take place when people and dogs are working to reach mutual goals of excellence.

TCRC is licensed by the American Kennel Club, Inc., a national organization that licenses our Hunt Tests and Field Trials, maintains our qualifying scores and awards the titles that our retrievers earn. The Treasure Coast Retriever Club is also a Charter Member of the Master National Retriever Club. Six AKC Master Hunter passes during each year’s qualifying time frame from MNRC Member Clubs is required to earn you and your dog an invitation to the annual Master National event. Though Treasure Coast is not currently a UKC/HRC club, many of our members participate in HRC Retriever Tests and Upland Hunt Tests as well as Super Retriever Series, (SRS) Tests.  Additionally, some club members participate in other canine events such as Agility, Conformation, and Obedience. Of course many of us also love to take our trained retrievers hunting with us.

TCRC hosts three or more AKC Hunt Tests per year: in late January, in late February and in early December. We have added an AKC Field Trial event – an Owner/Handler Qual – to the Friday of the Fall AKC HT weekend. TCRC also hosts an AKC Derby/Qual in early January. In addition to actual field events, our club provides monthly training sessions for most of the year where we simulate hunt tests. We use the same birds and equipment you can expect to see at a test. The set-ups can be adapted to any level dog and training advice is always available.

The members of TCRC are very helpful and friendly , and you will have an opportunity to more fully appreciate, enjoy and grow with your retrieving dog.

Get Involved

If you really want to be a part of the fun we love to have new members join us behind the scenes and help out with planning and running our events and training day activities.  The more people who are willing to help out the better our club becomes at serving our members. It’s also a great way to get invited to join in other members personal or small group trainings when you are a giver and not just a taker!
